Rebecca Womersley said her husband was 46 and a Banksman....Married 25 years...Suffered much lately from pain in head and dizziness. He went to work Saturday at Crosland Pit, returned about 1 p.m. Slept well Saturday night and stayed in bed Sunday until 12.30... Went out after dinner and again after tea, returned 10.05 pm. Got porridge for supper as usual and went to bed...About 3.05 Monday she heard a peculiar noise and found her husband unconscious...raised her 2 daughters....John Shackleton, neighbour, tried to administer whisky without success. Death took place before 3.15...He had complained lately of pain in heart....About 12 weeks ago he was attended by Dr Dearden for bronchitis. Doctor said he had weak heart...Verdict: Death from Natural Causes.
