The LDS Extraction Program and LDS Ordinance Index shows that Sarah Brough was christened on 19 Oct 1800 in Gnosall, Staffordshire, and that her parents were Ralph Brough and Elizabeth.The Gnosall Parish record (FHL Film # 1470995) lists Sarah Brough as being '23' years old and of 'Audmore' when she was buried on 2 Jan 1823.Unfortunately, RBFO researchers have not been able to identify William's father because William's mother, Sarah Brough, was only identified in parish records as a 'pauper' or 'single woman' and died five years after William was born. (For example, William Brough's christening is listed as follows in the Gnosall Parish records, FHL Film # 426548, as: 'Aug 9, 1818, William, son of Sarah Brough, of Audmore, Pauper.'.)¹

Also, Elizabeth (Kerby) Brough was about '78' years old at the time of her death/burial in 1847 (Gnosall Parish Burials, FHL Film # 1470995, p.192).In 1922, Samuel Richard Brough apparently submitted LDS ordinance (baptismal) work for Elizabeth (Kerby) Brough, stating at the time that she was born 'about 1774' in 'Haughton, Staffordshire, England.' Witness		She witnessed the biography of Thomas Brough : The marriage of Thomas Brough and Elizabeth Walter can be found in FHL Film # 1470995, p.28. This is the first Brough marriage recorded in the Gnosall Parish records.¹
Biography		The marriage record of Thomas Brough and Elizabeth Walter states that Elizabeth was from the 'Parish of Seighford,' Staffordshire, England. However, the only listing for an Elizabeth Walter in Seighford for the period 1730 to 1744 was for an 'Elizabeth [who was the] bastard daughter of Mary Walter [and who was] buried' on November 7, 1739. (FHL Film # 1040874.) Another Elizabeth Walter was buried at Haughton, near Seighford, on May 3, 1735 (FHL Film # 1040842). However, an Elizabeth Walter was christened on 26 May 1735 in Gnosall--which is only a short distance from Seighford (5.6 miles) and Haughton (2.8 miles), and many 'Walter' and 'Brough' families resided in Gnosall during the 1700's. RBFO researchers presently feel that the Elizabeth Walter christened in Gnosall on 26 May 1735, is the same Elizabeth Walter who married Thomas Brough on 27 May 1765 in Gnosall, Staffordshire, England.¹
