However, RBFO researchers have determined that this is not correct. For example, this 'Alice Brough' is not listed in the 1851 Census, RBFO researchers have not been able to find an Alice Brough listed in any Longton church/parish records. Also, Samuel R. Brough's 'Temple Records' do not include her name and she does not appear on any TIB records (in the Special Collections area of the Family History Library). Apparently, Alice Brough was mistakenly listed as 'Sealed to Parents' on 5 January 1922 in an earlier RBFO book (published in 1981), and this encouraged someone to later submit her name (in 1990) for LDS Ordinance work to the LDS Temple in Los Angeles, California, which now appears on the IGI.2006 Research Note: In February 2006, Mark E. Gardner, a professional genealogist and reference consultant at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, discovered that Mary Horleston (or Hollistone or Horleston) apparently had 'two' sons prior to her marriage to Richard Brough. (Richard Brough served as a Gunner in the British Royal Artillery Service between 1805 and 1822 and spent most of his time in and around southern Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. He was honorably discharged from the military on 1 January 1823.) Mary's first 'illegitimate' son was James Hollison, who was christened in Bucknall, Staffordshire, on June 30, 1816 (FHL Film # 426501, p.15, Bishop's Transcript; FHL Film # 1278889, Parish Transcript). Mary's second 'illegitimate' son (described as 'spurious' in the Bishop's Transcript) was John Hollison, who was christened in Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, on April 13, 1821 (FHL Film # 435854, p.211.) According to the 1841 British Census, James had left the household of Richard Brough and Mary Hollison by 1841, while John, then about 22 years old (in 1841), was still living with Richard Brough and Mary Hollison and their children in Longton, Staffordshire, England. However, John does not appear with the family in the 1851 British Census.¹

FHL Film # 836388, p.34.The 1881 Census (FHL CD, FHL Film # 1341646) of Stone, Staffordshire, England, states that 'Rosette [Rosannah] Brough'--the wife of Richard Brough--was still 'married', '57' years old, and as a 'mother in law' was residing with John Kellsall and Ann Kellsall.According to Samuel Richard Brough missionary journal (Book F, page 84), she states that on Monday, November 10, 1890, he 'visited Aunt Rose (widow) [of] Uncle Richard Brough....' There have been questions raised about whether or not George Brough exists and/or if he is a child of Richard Brough and Mary Horleston. The TIB Record # 1267255 which contains information on George Brough was submitted by Samuel R. Brough, who states that George Brough was born 25 June 1838 in Blurton, Staffordshire, England (see Samuel R. Brough's 'Temple Records' book, p. 7 and 17). However, in August 1999 and May 2003, Marie B. Nielson and R. Clayton Brough, of the RBFO Research Committee, could not locate any such birth or christening date for a George Brough in Blurton, Longton (Lane End), or nearby areas. (However, some parish records for Longton--such as christening and death entries--are missing for 1837-1838.) Also, George Brough is not listed with the other children of Richard Brough and Mary Horleston in the 1841 Census (or later census reports). Therefore, in June 2003, Marie B. Nielson and R. Clayton Brough decided to list the death date of George Brough as 1838/1841.¹

Biography		2006 Research Note: In February 2006, Mark E. Gardner, a professional genealogist and reference consultant at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, discovered that Mary Horleston (or Hollistone or Horleston) apparently had 'two' sons prior to her marriage to Richard Brough. (Richard Brough served as a Gunner in the British Royal Artillery Service between 1805 and 1822 and spent most of his time in and around southern Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. He was honorably discharged from the military on 1 January 1823.) Mary's first 'illegitimate' son was James Hollison, who was christened in Bucknall, Staffordshire, on June 30, 1816 (FHL Film # 426501, p.15, Bishop's Transcript; FHL Film # 1278889, Parish Transcript). Mary's second 'illegitimate' son (described as 'spurious' in the Bishop's Transcript) was John Hollison, who was christened in Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, on April 13, 1821 (FHL Film # 435854, p.211.) According to the 1841 British Census, James had left the household of Richard Brough and Mary Hollison by 1841, while John, then about 22 years old (in 1841), was still living with Richard Brough and Mary Hollison and their children in Longton, Staffordshire, England. However, John does not appear with the family in the 1851 British Census.¹
Biography		On September 24 2003, Jim H. Brough provided the RBFO with a copy of the marriage entry of James Holison and Mary Harper, which was solemnized on 27 August 1837 at St. Peter's Church in Stoke upon Trent, Staffordshire.¹
