Note Ralph Brough In November 2000, Jim Brough of 36 Grosvenor Avenue, Alsager, Stoke-on-Trent, ST7 2BZ, England, informed the RBFO that Ralph Brough (Burke) was his 'last known ancestor' and that 'the Registers for Rushton Spencer show: Ralph Burke son of Ralph Burke and of Eliz his wife bap Jan 26 1700/1' and that 'Ralph Brough [was] buried as a pauper 3 July 1743 at Biddulph St Lawrence.' Also at this time, Jim Brough stated that 'other spellings [of Brough] for what is apparently the same family are: Burck [and] Burgh.' Interestingly, in December 2000, RBFO Genealogists found the following entry in the Leek Parish Registers: '7 November 1702: John Bourck alias Brough to Sarah Hulme both of Leek mar .' (See Leek Parish Registers, Part 2, published in the year 2000, FHL book # 942.46, Brpr, V.93, p.68.) Jim Brough's letter of 4 January 2000 also supported the above findings.

Note Thomas Brough Thomas Brough's christening took place on 9 March 1739/1740 and can be found in the Biddulph Parish Registers. Thomas Brough's parents are listed as Ralph and Martha Brough. According to Mark E. Gardner, FHL Genealogist (2005): 'Unfortunately, someone has submitted an incorrect entry for Thomas Brough's christening to the IGI. This IGI entry incorrectly lists Thomas Brough as being christened in Biddulph on 11 March 1738. Instead, Hannah Brough, daughter of Robert and Hannah Brough, was actually christened in Biddulph on 11 March 1739.'

Thomas Brough's burial can be found in the British Isles National Burial Index and the Gnosall Parish Burial Record (FHL Film # 1470995). At the time of his burial in 1819, Thomas is listed as being about 84 years old.2
