The marriage entry in the registers shows that Elizabeth was aged 24, spinster of 20 Holgate Street. Her father was given as Joseph Thompstone, butcher. James Ash was aged 23, batchelor of the same address. He was a labourer as was his father Thomas Ash. They were married by banns in the presence of C. Ash and Ann Thompstone (sister)."
