Biography* | | Mark Thompstone was born in England in 1870, and lived in British Columbia for 30 years, mostly in the Duncan area. He was a meticulous documenter of society and culture in the Cowichan Valley, and usually signed his postcards "Thompstone, Duncan". He was vice-chair of the Provincial Arts and Industrial Institue of British Columbia, which mounted the first know photography exhibit in the province, in the Provincial Library in Vicoria in January 1921. Thompstone died in 1934 in Victoria.10 |
