Mr Cobbett, barrister, of Manchester, represented the Treasury. At the end of the proceedings John was committed to Kirkdale Jail (Liverpool) to await trial on the charge of murdering his uncle. on 17 October 1883 at Leigh Police Court, Leigh, Lancashire, England, .
